HOW TO INSTALL
Notes:
- If you don't know which version of Windows Vista®/ Windows Server® 2008 you are using, 32 bit or 64 bit, please check by following the steps below:
- Click on "Start" => "Control Panel" => "System and Maintenance" => "System" => Check it at "System type" section.
- The instructions may vary depending on the Windows Vista®/ Windows Server® 2008 version.
- By installing this driver, the printer icon named "Brother xxxxxx Printer" or "Brother xxxxxx series" will be added in the "Printers" section.
- You must be logged on as an Administrator.
- If the "User Account Control" prompt is displayed, click "Continue".
- If the "Windows Security" alert prompt is displayed, click "Install this driver software anyway.".
For Network Shared Printing:
*If your client PC has the same OS as the server PC:
For Windows Vista® Users:
- Click on "Start" => "Control Panel" => "Hardware and Sound" => "Printers" => "Add a printer".
For Windows Server® 2008 Users:
- Click on "Start" => "Control Panel" => "Hardware and Sound" => "Printers" => "File" => "Run as administrator" => "Add Printer".
Next Step :
- Click "Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer".
- Click "The printer that I want isn't listed".
- Select "Select a shared printer by name" and input the Network Printer's Name, e.g. \\server\MFC-xxx
- Click on "Next".
- The Test print dialog appears. Click on "Finish".
*If your client PC has a different OS than the server PC
NOTE:
- There are some instances where you should follow the steps above, even if the client PC uses a different OS than that of the server.
- Make a temporary folder or directory on your HDD [hard disk drive] as the location to save the downloaded self-extracting file, e.g. C:\brodnt
- Download the file to the temporary folder or directory.
- Once the download is complete, open the folder or directory and double click on the downloaded file to extract it.
For Windows Vista® Users:
Click on "Start" => "Control Panel" => "Hardware and Sound" => "Printers" => "Add a printer".
For Windows Server® 2008 Users:
Click on "Start" => "Control Panel" => "Hardware and Sound" => "Printers" => "File" => "Run as administrator" => "Add Printer".
Next Step :
- Click "Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer".
- Click "The printer that I want isn't listed".
- Select "Select a shared printer by name" and input the Network Printer's Name, e.g. \\server\MFC-xxx
- Click on "Next".
- If the "Connect to Printer" dialog appears, click "OK".
- Click on [Browse] and click on the drop down menu in the DRIVES field to select the folder created in Step 3.
- Click on "Open".
- Click on "OK".
- Select the model name and click on "Next".
- Name the printer and select a default printer and click on "Next".
- The Test Print dialog appears. Click on "Finish".
For Network Printing using TCP/IP (Peer-to-Peer Printing)
- Make a temporary folder or directory on your HDD [hard disk drive] as the location to save the downloaded self-extracting file, e.g. C:\brodnt
- Download the file to the temporary folder or directory.
- Once the download is complete, open the folder or directory and double click on the downloaded file to extract it.
For Windows Vista® Users:
Click on "Start" => "Control Panel" => "Hardware and Sound" => "Printers" => "Add a printer".
For Windows Server® 2008 Users:
Click on "Start" => "Control Panel" => "Hardware and Sound" => "Printers" => "File" => "Run as administrator" => "Add Printer".
Next Step
- Click "Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer".
- Click "The printer that I want isn't listed".
- Select "Add a printer using a TCP/IP hostname or IP address" and click "Next".
- Enter the IP address of your printer and be sure to check off the "Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use" option.
- Click "Next".
- Click on [Have Disk].
- Click on [Browse] and click on the drop down menu in the DRIVES field to select the folder required. [This was created by extracting the file in step 3].
- Click on "Open".
- Click on "OK".
- Select the model name and click on "Next".
Note:
If the model name in the list for your product includes USB in the name of the driver it is still possible to use this driver for network connection.
- Give the printer a name and select default printer and click on "Next".
- The Test Print dialog appears. Click on "Finish".
For Local Printer (For Windows Vista® Users):
- Make a temporary folder or directory on your HDD [hard disk drive] as the location to save the downloaded self-extracting file, e.g. C:\brodnt
- Download the file to the temporary folder or directory.
- Once the download is complete, open the folder or directory and double click on the downloaded file to extract it.
- Connect the USB cable.
- Click on "Start" => "Control Panel" => "Hardware and Sound" => "Printers" => "Add a printer".
- Click "Add a local printer".
- Select USB port and click on "Next".
- Click on [Have Disk].
- Click on [Browse] and click on the drop down menu in the DRIVES field to select the folder created in Step 3.
- Click on "Open".
- Click on "OK".
- Select the model name and click on "Next".
- Name the printer and select a default printer and click on "Next".
- The Test print dialog appears. Click on "Finish".
